Claude Design to editable InDesign file — built the converter because a client asked for the .indd
I’m a freelance designer. On a tight deadline, I used Claude Design to lay out a client report, then needed an editable InDesign file. I built idmly with Claude to convert the HTML into an editable InDesign file, made the deadline, and have used it on every report since. - Give Claude Design or ChatGPT the report content, brand colours and layout direction. Ask for a self-contained HTML design, then iterate. - Download the HTML and convert it at idmly.com, or use the idmly MCP server in Claude Desktop. - Open the .idml in InDesign: editable text, styles and vector charts. - Refine the typography and page breaks, then hand over the editable file. Now I save hours on every report, time I can spend experimenting with the design and refining the details.
