PIPPA: An AI Assistant for Trusted Policy and Process Guidance
PIPPA (Policy, Instructions, Processes & Procedures Assistant) is a personal showcase project exploring how AI can help employees find trusted answers and complete everyday processes with confidence. Employees ask questions in plain language and receive clear guidance, citations, approval requirements, escalation paths, and step-by-step instructions. PIPPA is designed to be transparent about uncertainty, flag missing information, and show where its guidance comes from. Step-by-step: 1. I created a fictional organisation with a controlled library of synthetic policies and procedures. 2. I structured the content into governed documents and clauses so every answer could be traced back to approved sources. 3. I built a Streamlit app with retrieval, citations, conversation history, and feedback. 4. I added safeguards that label answers as complete, partial, or unavailable and prevent PIPPA from inventing procedures, dates, or permissions. 5. I included user guides and system steps, not only policy lookups. 6. I added a Supabase-ready foundation for login and user history while keeping a deterministic answer path available. 7. I tested PIPPA across policy, process, exception, and governance scenarios. What’s next is adding more policies and user guides, voice-based questions, and tailoring by function, role, and risk level while maintaining traceability. All organisations, policies, and procedures in this project are fictional and were created for showcase purposes.
