Non-coder builds language and transfer-planning apps with Claude Code in a week
I'm not a coder, but I used Claude Code to get two apps running on my computer in about a week. One helps me practice a language, and the other keeps track of everything I have going on. I also built one that finds classes and majors that will transfer as I move from community college to a 4-year school. It has been far more helpful than my school counselor. It found online classes for requirements my counselor said I couldn't take until next year. 1. Ask Claude Code how to make the app you want. When it gives you a list of directions, tell it: "I have no idea how to do that. Can you do that yourself?" 2. Let it do as much as it can on its own. When it needs you to do something, it will ask you. 3. Ask how to do each step. If the answer still doesn't make sense, ask again until you understand it. 4. When it gives a bad answer or result, ask: "what could I have done different?" Or ask: "what can I do to communicate with you more clearly so this doesn't happen again?" 5. Describe what the finished app should look like and how it should behave, not just what it should do. 6. If you're not sure what it means, ask for a mock-up first. If the app involves text, ask it to role play the app with you. The mock-up or role play catches a wrong design at a glance, before Claude Code spends time finishing the wrong version.
