I spent 23 years in the NHS. These days I spend a slightly worrying amount of time building things with Claude.
The big one is a local memory system. It's a self-hosted SQLite graph that Claude talks to over MCP, so it can remember decisions across projects. Nothing gets written without my say-so, because I've read enough incident reports to know how this ends otherwise. The build runs as separate planning, build and oversight threads, which is either good governance or a cry for help.
Elsewhere, Claude:
plans the family's weekly dinners in Mealie, checks we haven't eaten the same thing twice, and writes the shopping list
helps wrangle Home Assistant, Zigbee and Node-RED into a house that mostly does what it's told
vibe-coded a pricing and management tool for two holiday lets in Spain
chains n8n workflows with free-tier LLMs for classification jobs
is currently helping me build a Quartz portfolio site, and was trusted with filling in this profile
Happy to swap notes on MCP servers, Claude Projects, memory design, or getting AI to do the boring bits of family life.
