Getting real work out of Microsoft Copilot

Shane Young Chief AI Officer & Microsoft MVP

For a lot of people, the AI tool they should be using at work is Microsoft Copilot. Here's how to actually get work out of it.

About this live course

For many people, Copilot is the obvious place to use AI with work data. It has access to your email, Teams, and SharePoint, it's covered by Enterprise Data Protection, and your company's security and data policies often point there by default.

One honest note: most of what Shane shows assumes you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, which is where the work context and the more advanced features come alive. He'll be upfront about licensing and credits as he goes.

If you last tried Copilot months ago, it has moved a long way and isn't as far behind as you've heard. You also aren't locked to one model: pick the best one this week from a dropdown without changing tools. Join Shane, a 20-year Microsoft MVP, for a plain look at what each Copilot tier does and when to use it.

In this session, you'll learn

5 outcomes

1Know which Copilot you actually have

Chat, Office apps, Cowork, and Studio do different things. Learn what each unlocks at your license level so you stop guessing.

2Put Work IQ to work

Copilot's built-in access to your email, Teams, and SharePoint, running inside your existing permissions and data policies.

3Make Excel do it the right way

Get formulas and rules that hold up when the data changes, not one-time hard-coded values that quietly break.

4Use Cowork for multi-step work

Skills, plugins, scheduling, and browser control on the same Claude harness, with model choice.

5Trust it with work data

Why Enterprise Data Protection is the real reason Copilot fits regulated and security-conscious teams.
