What You Will Build

A complete, branded slide deck generated from an investment memo PDF. We used Sequoia's 2014 DoorDash memo as our test case (attached) and got a full deck with market sizing, competitive landscape, traction metrics, and team slides. Manus even picked up DoorDash's brand colors.

What You Need

  • Manus account (free 7-day trial, then $20/month)
  • An investment memo or structured document as a PDF
  • A Google account (if you want to export to Google Slides)

Step 1 Get Your Memo Ready

Start with a PDF that has clear, structured sections. Investment memos are ideal because they follow a formula: market analysis, team background, business diligence, traction, SWOT analysis, deal dynamics, and investment recommendation.

  • We used Sequoia's 2014 DoorDash investment memo. Any memo with named sections will work
  • The more structured the document, the better the output. Manus reads the section headers and uses them to decide what goes on each slide
  • This also works with quarterly reports, project briefs, or any document that has a repeatable format

Pro tip: You don't need to clean up the PDF first. Manus reads the raw file. No copy-pasting, no text extraction. Just attach the PDF directly.

Step 2 Create the Task in Manus

Go to manus.im and sign up. Once you're in, click New task.

  • Select Create slides as the task type
  • Attach your memo PDF
  • Type your prompt:

Turn this investment memo into a slide deck.

That's it. No fancy prompting. Manus reads the memo, identifies the sections, and builds the deck.

  • Manus runs in the cloud, so this is a "walk away and come back" task. It took a few minutes for our DoorDash memo
  • You can watch it work in real time if you want, but you don't need to babysit it

Pro tip: There’s no official Mac app for Manus but there is one for Windows and iOS. You can use the iPad version on your Mac if you really want to.

Step 3 Review and Edit

Manus will usually one-shot the layout. For the DoorDash memo, it created slides for every major section and pulled in the actual numbers from the document. It even used DoorDash brand colors.

  • You can edit slides directly inside Manus. It works like a basic deck editor
  • You can also present from within Manus if you need to share it quickly
  • If something needs fixing, just tell Manus in the chat. For example: "Make the background higher contrast" or "Add a slide summarizing the key risks"

Pro tip: If you don't like the visual style, tell Manus what to change. We asked it to fix the background and it updated the whole deck in one pass.

Step 4 Export Your Deck

When you're happy with the result, you have three export options:

  • Download as PPTX if you need to edit in PowerPoint
  • Download as PDF if you just need to share it
  • Convert to Google Slides if you connect your Google account. This is the cleanest option. It saves the deck directly into your Google Drive with all the charts and formatting intact

Going Further

Attach a style reference. If you have an existing deck with your company's branding, attach it alongside your memo and tell Manus to style the new deck the same way. It'll match the fonts, colors, and layout.

Try it with other structured documents. Quarterly business reviews, board updates, client reports. Anything with a repeatable section format converts well. The more formulaic the document, the better Manus handles it.
