Learn how to use NotebookLM to analyze YouTube videos, extract the structure behind successful content, and turn that structure into reusable blueprints for your own scripts. You will produce a smart notebook that can help draft outlines, scripts, titles, and video angles from a reference video and your brand context.
You will build a smart NotebookLM notebook that reverse-engineers YouTube videos and creates reusable blueprints for drafting video scripts.
To give NotebookLM more context, add your website link or upload PDFs as sources.
Find a long-form YouTube video with a structure you like. Go to notebooklm.google.com, create a new notebook, choose Add sources, select Websites, and paste the YouTube link.
Create a note with a brief summary of your brand, your content vision, and your audience. Click the three dots, then choose Add as source.
To give NotebookLM more context, you can also add your website link or upload PDFs as sources.
Make sure the YouTube video and your brand statement are selected. Paste this prompt into the chat:
Reverse engineer the structure of this video. Turn it into a blueprint that outlines the structure so I can use it for [my brand] content. Take note of the different scenes and possible angles for a video structured like this.Click Save to note in the chat.
Rename the note “Blueprint 1,” then click the three dots and choose Convert to source.
You can also click the three dots on a note to export it as a Google Doc or Sheet.
Now you have a modular blueprint you can use to write scripts on any topic.
De-select the YouTube video in the sources pane so that only your brand statement and Blueprint 1 are selected.
Send a prompt like this:
Use blueprint 1 to create an outline, a script and four video titles for my brand on the topic of [your topic].Export the script to Google Docs and edit it. Over time, build a library of blueprints you can use to try different video angles.
Product announcements are a strong example use case. You can create a bespoke notebook for product announcements, turn several product announcement videos you like into blueprints, and test a few of those blueprints the next time your company needs to script one.
You can also have NotebookLM analyze your own videos and keep a running list of feedback. Link to one of your videos and try a prompt like this:
Watch this video and give feedback on engagement. Highlight specific areas of high engagement that could work as hooks for short-form videos.Copy those hooks into a Google Doc titled “Running List of Hooks.” Then choose Add sources, select Drive, and add that document. Your notebook will get smarter as you analyze more videos without cluttering your sources.
